Every day new learnings and fun - Testimonial of the FSJ

I am 16 years old and come from Dresden. I want to learn to be a nurse at the Deaconess Hospital, but I'm still a year too young for that. I didn't feel like just sitting around at home. I wanted to do something meaningful. That's why I'm now doing an FSJ in the children's ward of the hospital here in the Kleinwachau Epilepsy Centre. In a nutshell, that means: I play with the little ones, go for walks with them and sometimes fix their hair or make sure they wash their hands before eating. You win the children over very quickly. I was hardly here when one of them arrived and instantly gave me a hug. I also got a great orientation from my colleagues. If I have questions, I can go to them at any time. I now know what to do if a child has an epileptic seizure. I learn new things every day and have a lot of fun. I also live right on campus here during the week - in a shared flat. And the great thing about it is: I live with people from Italy and Ukraine. In our free time, we talk all the time, especially in English, cook or watch films. By the way, as an FSJ student, I not only get pocket money of 350 EUR and all social insurance, but also free lunch and I don't have to pay anything for the flat here in Kleinwachau.
