New way of working with the BFD

There are indeed many good reasons to decide in favour of voluntary service. Most volunteers want to reorientate themselves professionally or bridge idle times in a meaningful way. In some cases unexpected perspectives open up: This was the case with Kathrin Pfützner.
The mother of three children decided in summer 2014 to redirect her career. A first short internship in the workshop of the Kleinwachau Epilepsy Centre encouraged her to pursue this path. The trained men's tailor decided to do voluntary service of all generations (FDAG) in Kleinwachau. While still doing her voluntary service, Kathrin Pfützner applied for an advertised position in the workshop for people with disabilities. This application was ultimately crowned with success.
Since April 2015, she has been working in the assembly area of the Kleinwachau workshops and is pleased that her professional reorientation through the FDAG has worked out so well. She looks back with gratitude on her time with the Paritätische Freiwilligendiensten Sachsen (Saxony Joint Voluntary Services) because the instructors were very encouraging in helping her to find her own way and to try things out. She learned to recognise her own constraints and to set limits accordingly. "Our generation, people over 45, are a potential for society because of their experiences and mastered challenges", Kathrin Pfützner believes.
