FSJ - Voluntary Social Year

FÖJ - Voluntary Ecological Year - You are already older than 27 and know that time is invaluable? Perhaps you yourself would like some time to make a new start or would like to contribute actively after your working days are over. Then allow us to offer you:

BFD - Federal Volunteer Service - You are irreplaceable! More than six million people are involved in social projects in Germany. They give their time and make our society a better place to live. You too can give your time to the residents and patients of the Kleinwachau Epilepsy Centre.

TAKE ON A VOLUNTARY ROLE

VOLUNTARY SOCIAL YEAR (FSJ)

Here you will find all the information you need about your voluntary social year (FSJ) at the Kleinwachau Epilepsy Centre:

You must be:

At least 16, but no more than 27 years old. You must have already finished school or be about to finish.

This is where we need you:

Varied, exciting and challenging tasks await you in one of the FSJ positions in our residential areas, in the hospital, the workshop, the special needs oriented school or in our day care centre "Baumhaus" in Radeberg. The decision is up to you!

This is what you will do:

- You work 40 hours per week

- either you support our day care team in the areas of pedagogy and housekeeping

- or you look after people in our residential groups

- you can also support the patients in our hospital

- or you help out in the workshop or accompany the children in our special needs oriented school

- You can attend 25 seminars to learn new things and meet like-minded people.

- Two shifts and weekend duty options are available, depending on your area of work.

- 350 euros pocket money per month

- 24 days holiday

- free accommodation in a shared flat on our campus in the Kleinwachau epilepsy centre

- you are still entitled to child benefit (until the age of 25)

- you gain often better chances of applying or recognition as a pre-study internship; Crediting as a waiting semester for the allocation of study places

12 to 18 months - depending on your preference.

You can join us at any time from 1 September to 28 February.

Do you have to be a member of the church?

No, church membership is not a requirement. However, we would like you to respect our values.

VOLUNTARY ECOLOGICAL YEAR (FÖJ)

Here you will find all the information you need about your voluntary ecological year (Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr, FÖJ) at our Baumhaus daycare centre in Radeberg:

You must be:

At least 16 years old and no older than 26 when you start your FÖJ. You must have already finished school or be about to finish. You must be passionate about people, the environment, ecosystems and the conscious use of nature.

This is where we need you:

Didn't you dream of having your own tree house when you were a child? Our day care centre of the same name may not be up in the trees, but it offers plenty of opportunities to explore nature. Here you can discover flora and fauna together with the children, work with them in the garden and be concierge in the insect hotel. You grow, cook and ultimately bake with the fruits of your labour or make small works of art from natural materials. You work 40 hours a week and learn a lot of new things and meet like-minded people on 25 seminar days outside the day-care centre.

FEDERAL VOLUNTARY SERVICE (BFD)

Here you will find all the information you need about your Federal Volunteer Service (BFD) at the Kleinwachau Epilepsy Centre:

You need to:

Be someone who would like to get involved with people with and without disabilities and is older than 27.

Prove your skills, dexterity and sensitivity at one of these BFD positions:

- in our specialist hospital for epilepsy, you will care for people with and without disabilities

- In our residential areas, you will accompany children, adolescents and adults with seizures through their daily lives.

- In the workshop for disabled people, you will help with woodworking and assembly and provide valuable support.

- In the special needs oriented school, you will work with children with mental disabilities.

- in our day-care centre "Baumhaus" in Radeberg, you will provide support in the pedagogical or housekeeping areas.

working hours and more:

- You have the choice between 21, 30 or 40 hours per week.

- The number of days of leave depends on the duration of your BFD.

- 12 seminar days to learn about pedagogy, work on your own topics and get to know other BFD volunteers.

- Two shifts and weekend duty options are available, depending on your area of work.

What the Federal Volunteer Service offers you:

- many opportunities to contribute and develop your skills and experience

- a friendly, helpful, professional and human working environment in the countryside

- 310 to 410 euros pocket money per month

- full pension, accident, nursing care, health and unemployment insurance during the BFD

- reduced travel costs for public transport

- you gain often better chances of applying for a job, e.g. recognition as a pre-study internship; Crediting as a waiting semester for the allocation of study places

- If you wish, you can receive an evaluation or a reference from us.

- As an ALG II recipient, you do not have to take up another job during your BFD; your pocket money is not counted as income up to an amount of 200 euros.

How long does the BFD last?

12 to 18 months - according to your preference.

You can start at any time on the first of the month.
